Storms Bring the World Into Focus |
| This poem is entered in "The Writer's Cramp" And then the rains came the water filled the street and every depression imaginable trees willfully crashing down Violent echoes of erroneous forecasting we live in the aftermath after the focus was on some judge's whatever thirty some years ago The prognosticators did us no favors the politicians won't save us our power may go out and the generators get to work but we have a glorious fall day to consider For Floridians it wasn't worth it this day of devastation but we get the leaves falling and that crisp air Remembering Octobers in years past They seemed more beautiful somehow, not based on the suffering of some that Thursday in autumn when the storm changed everything 20 lines |
