REASONING BEHIND THE POEM ▶︎

This is a poem I wrote after I had an argument with a *cough* boyfriend of mine. (And yes, I loved him. There is no such thing as too young for love.) He has the habit of being a jerk without knowing it. He also has no filter and doesn't think before he acts. This bothered me often, and it set me off on a rampage when he really said something stupid/offensive to me. It's been... I think 8 months.... no sorry, 9 months since the argument and me trying to ignore him. My being Demisexual made it hard to let him go because it's hard to get that kind of bond with someone. We're still friends, and I'm not sure it will ever be anything more, but I've forgiven him. This is a poem about how I've let him slowly regain my trust.

To someone I knew

Gave you one chance
Something you blew

Now I know
The pangs I feel
Are because of you

Now you’re asking for forgiveness
You’re no longer a foe
One chance becomes two
Proceed with caution
Once again you may advance

One more chance
To switch from someone I knew
To someone I know
