Response to Something I Read Somewhere |
Scene on the Sidewalk For one solitary instant push aside the veiled pretense The haughty pose of indifference Try not to make a scene on the sidewalk Don't look at others, actors in that condescending drama Your sociopathic tendencies are weighing us down in concrete vocabulary flexing Established yourself on the altar of "you" a legend in your own time or was it mind? We hop gingerly on your blistering pavement Cheap wine makes you sound less impressive than those you might disdain Waxing poetic and quoted in your somewhat limited cinder block cavalcade You called me some street savvy names So far back in the fog of memory Now you can't even bear your civil servant Just walk away in the silence and attention you crave |
