"Reaching"



Reaching for you declared my devotion.
Reaching for me launched our romance.

As we embraced,

I sang;
lyrics tugged the hem of your heart.
I laughed;
whispered smiles tickled your spirit.
I lived;
our journey together inspired us.
I bowed with thanksgiving;
tears of joy nourished the earth.

As we parted,

I spoke;
did your heart lose its hearing?
I cried;
didn't you notice my grief stained face?
I exclaimed;
the wind of it shook trees.
Didn't you feel it?
I bent at the knees;
bruising the ground pained the earth.

Your ghost stepped away and kept going.
My soul stayed and continued reaching.
