A poem to address the negative stigma about being afraid in a social place |
| Here's to he who smiles in the sun But when the shadows draw nearer, To hide the features that he bears, Or when he's all alone without a friend, His flimsy facade crumbles to dust and betrays the sinking hole of his heart Here's to he who hides from the light, And in darkness succumbs to that Hatred within. For he knows inside that Nothing and no-one and nobody Can harm him more than his own Hand and heart and thought Here's to she who cannot bear to See her own features standing there. Who cannot look in a mirror to see herself Because there's always a problem or Something to fix. Until finally she can only Fear the love that 'beauty' will bring Here's to all that stand afraid and Hide themselves beneath a smile. Or keep themselves from those they love Or fear the words they might have said For the sight of someone smiling anyway Keeps them going to the next day |
