A Whole New World

because of you--a poem written with a song in mind

because of you,
my world is changed—
the rain is always warm,
and the stars dance
to the music of our hearts
beating together.

because of you,
I am wrapped in the smells
of baking bread,
and roses,
and fresh cut grass—
you are home to me.

because of you,
I am never bored—
your hand in mine
makes every turn a surprise,
and I can’t close my eyes
for fear I’d miss an instant
without you.

because of you,
I feel free—
soaring, tumbling,
freewheeling through
endless possibilities
which never exist
without you there,
ready to catch me
and send me aloft again.
