What could've been but never was
Words lost in the sand I remember 'cause
I left them there to fade away
For tide and time to have their way
There one minute gone the next
Words written in a sandy text
Barely a shadow left behind
The words I left for you to find
Faintly left inscribed in sand
The thoughts I left in my own hand
So if you're passin' by the sea
And stumble on these words by me
Remember that my words are true
And that I left 'em there for you
