A simple definition

Love is the distilled essence
Of the attraction that you feel.
That knotted up, butterfly tickle,
Heart pounding in your ears,
Can't catch your breath feeling...
It is the maturing of friendship
Into something more,
Into a deepening of intimacy
And trust.

It is working together to achieve goals
And to realize that dreams and hopes,
Which never quite turn out the way
That we imagine them,
Are enough
Because you reach them together.

Love is living each day through the challenges
That life brings.
Accepting each others frailties,
And sharing each others strengths
With hope and compassion.
And a willingness to begin again
Tomorrow.
