A poem about fair weather friends |
| In time of prosperity friends will be plenty; In time of adversity not one in twenty. ~ James Howell Word Count 132 Line Count 12 For show are those who would stand by our side Who laugh and play and tickle our pride But comes the rain, storms or showers Not one stands with us, in our loneliest hour When the sun shines on us, surrounded we are The yes-men and glad-friends, come from near and from far But when things turn badly, or we put on a frown All scatter like flies, not one stays around Yet we continue with these friends of ours Knowing they’ll leave us at the first signs of showers But forgive them we must, for it’s our way And when they need us, we too cannot stay |
