I wrote this inspirational piece for a poetry contest. |
You are the world’s candle. Though stars fail to twinkle, even moon disappear, a city on a hill is seen high and low, far and near. Only nonsense interferes light’s purposed paths to clear. So shine bright without fear in the presence of men; shameless charity provokes glory to God... You are the world's candle. ---------------------------- Written for "The Lighthouse Poetry Contest" and inspired by Matthew 5:15-16, Jesus' parable of the lamp: You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. |
