The Treasure Hunt

It was Lydia’s birthday and Bill had bought her a special gold ring.

Sneaking into the house, Snippet, her poodle, greeted him with a growl and then attacked.

“Damn dog,” he muttered, batting her. Snippet leapt again, knocking the ring from his hand and grabbing it.

“Hey!” shouted Bill. The dog swallowed.

Angrily, he threw Snippet into the backyard.

Lydia came in. “Oh Bill, you remembered!”

“Yes! And, I have a special gift for you.” He handed her a pair of rubber gloves. Seeing the confused look, he pointed to the backyard.

“Think of it as a birthday treasure hunt.”
