Evil lurks

He lurks from the darkest place
casting menacing shadows
which quickly envelopes my space,
draining the light from my life.

Evil's hidden behind a smile,
dancing eyes of merriment
show reflections of his vile,
consuming my innocence.

Slithering his way throughout life
using lies as his device
causing only pain and strife.
He licks the fear from my lips.

He takes what is not his to take,
reveling in the control
of power, stolen at my sake.
Draining the light from my life.
