Once upon a dark night
a vase of dreams nightmares,
monsters she created
under the bed, in the closet,
   in her mind
yearned to come out.

As a child,
one learns
to fear the darkness-
their cries, their screams;

their hands pulling her d
                                      o
                                      w
                                      n
the abyss of haunted dreams.

They exist
in a grave of her desire,
growling for nourishment
every night
as she pretend
that she doesn't seek
or hide from them.

For the first time
she is alone in her head,
no chasing voices,
scary faces
of her diabolical friends;

for the first time she's all alone
standing fearless on her own.
