A Tale from Exodus |
| He Never Saw It Coming Moses went to Pharaoh With message to bestow "Thus says the Lord of Hebrews, Let My people go!" But Pharaoh wouldn't listen The Lord he didn't fear "Thus says the king of Egypt, The people will stay here!" Then came the plagues from heaven To soften Pharaoh's ways Red Nile, frogs, and locusts, Still Hebrews stayed as slaves Not livestock sick and dying Nor locusts through the land Could make the stubborn Pharaoh Change his foolish stand Only when his son died Did Pharaoh see the light "Take your people quickly. Go now from my sight" But with Hebrews departed The Pharaoh changed his mind "Take the horse drawn chariots. Strike down each one you find!" Soon the Hebrews panicked When forced against the sea The Lord then said to Moses "Your troubles I can see." "Moses, stretch your hand out." The sea gave way to land "When all are safely over, Once more stretch out your hand." Moses stretched his hand out And back the sea came running As for Egypt's Pharaoh He never saw it coming |
