A darkness that lurks within

Something dark
Lurks within

It eats away
At my skin

It nibbles upon
This heart of mine

It tastes the fruit
Of my arthritic spine

It delights in
My wicked mind

It does not know
The boundary of time

So something dark
Lurks within

And steals from me
My love to live.
