| College: the Key to Success I see my son off to dreams of a vibrant future Knowing full well that I’m sending him on a snipe hunt Baccarat, Roulette Black Jack odds would be a gift, but the tables are full Slot machines suck us into the broken social contract All glowing and bright, “play with me; I am the American dream” As the media complies by waving false flags of prosperity Tempting us with gadgets and toys; celebrities and game shows Colleges have become vocational; they teach skills of obsolescence Grant degrees for shiny new cars that will soon be outdated and replaced What our youth need to learn is civility, social intelligence, independent thinking And, most importantly, How to kill the complacency In which the minds of my generation Have become so deeply esconced |
