| I do Not Come Prepackaged (From: Dog Poems) They stand there in static anticipation While I lace up my boots Because I do not come prepackaged With fur covered paws and nails I don my hat and put on my coat They spin and wonder what is the hold Because I do not come prepackaged With heavy fur coats and high energy I get ready to open the door To the cold and snowy world Because I do not come prepackaged They await my authority, but barely Like horses at the gate Like wind before the storm They notice not snow or chill Because they come prepackaged And do not know why I don’t JD 2215 |
