| They begin the quest a frenzied gust In trial through the shadowed dusk Through hail and strife By man and knife The howling heed their call O'er stone and thorn they pad and stride Their gaze a constant backward slide For 'hind them be Their glory, she Ah, onward for her sake they crawl In pity watch the onward struggle In wonder see their climb In sorrow see their feet now crumble For they shant reach that mountainside |
