| Dirt stains my shoes As I walk down a country road Leaves rustle in the trees When birds hear my approach. Pine needles and rocks crunch under my feet As a deer leaps across the road Spooked by my nearby scent He runs away, tail flagging, I smile at his beauty. I look up into the blue northern sky Imagining shapes in the clouds Brisk air assaults me Just a simple walk in Northern Michigan. 12 lines, non-rhyming |
