The Book

How does anyone know for sure if they're taking the right path toward their destiny?

The Book

There is a book of verses
that really do not rhyme,
with pages torn and frayed,
read often over time.

In moments of despair,
if one seeks to understand,
one only has to read a verse
to get a helping hand.

For me, I have to question
what my life is meant to be;
am I going down the path
that is my destiny?

Or if I somehow faltered
and chose a different way,
will destiny return me 
to my chosen path one day?

In every person’s life,
there comes a time of need;
for guidance in their daily lives,
they only have to read.

The words are often vague,
but they’re written just for you;
read them with an open heart,
the meaning will ring true.

I’m not a firm believer,
nor do I even know
when the book was written
or who wrote the lovely prose.

At times I doubt the author,
though it seems so strange to me
that words I need to give me strength
are written succinctly.
