Poem about a boy who is afraid of the moon |
| Afraid of the Moon! 39 lines He's afraid of the moon! What a terrible thing. What's a parent to do? He seems OK Til the moon grows full Then he's so sad and blue He won't go out In the evening air He won't look up in the sky Just stays indoors Shades drawn shut With a frightened look in his eyes "Son," I asked "What frightens you?" "The moon's such a beautiful thing" "Are you afraid Of werewolves or ghosts Or other ghastly things?" "Mother Dear Those things aren't real I'm not afraid of those" "In fact, I rather like the moon The man who lives there knows" "But just when it gets nice and full it starts to go away" "I fear one day When it gets small gone then it will stay" "Oh no, my boy. It's always there It's just the sun you see" "The sun can light up all or none The moon never does flee" "Friend moon is always in the sky So let your fears go free" |
