MY FIRST ROMANCE

When my very first romance was ended
My poor heart was torn into tatters
First into two it was rended, then
Broken pieces were scattered

My sweet tender love words went splat
All they brought was a horrid blank stare
Like Pepe Le Pew and his cat
My romantic cupboard was bare

I thought of Darlene and Alfalfa
And sang love songs well out of tune
As a female she was a real Alpha
She kicked my butt over the moon

To my Olive I guess I’m no Popeye
I’m no Romeo to Juliet
But with a sharp eye and some duct tape
My poor heart will be one piece yet
