Set out for a walk
Didn't quite know
Where it was headed
It saw a red rose
Pretty and robust
It saw a red jacket
Lying in the grass
It saw a red book
Open and waiting,
It saw a red light
Blinking, on and off
It saw a red car
Revving up its engine.
It noticed a yellow crayon
Lying in the grass
It noticed a green snake
Sliding up the path
It noticed the blue sky
Peeking to say, "hi"
It noticed the purple grapes
In a window, way up high
It noticed the orange t-shirt
Being thrown by a group of friends.
By now it was back home,
It was glad it had another red shoe.
