Letting go

Dearly beloved,
we have gathered
around the tear stained remains
of yesterday's passions
etched
into the fragile pages
of our memories.

Listen
to the tender echoes
reverberating
through your soul
and you will detect the words
whispered firmly,
but gently
into the ears of your desire.

Broken promises waiting
for us to inter them
in the mausoleums
of our shattered dreams.
