Remade

Written after realizing how much I'd changed over the years.

I realized today
I’m no longer broken,
no longer in need
of saving,
and no longer
in the business
of saving
others from themselves.

I’ve been tempered
by life
and yes it’s true
I have a patchwork heart,
sewn from the pieces
others left behind
in exchange for
a piece of me.

It’s not brand new
right out of the box
but it’s tried and it’s true
and it is not a place
for amateurs.
