Poem for Country Music Lover's Contest |
| Sidewinder She left him once, by the moon’s dim light, Before he could inflict his bite. Looking for someone, anyone kinder, He found her first, Sidewinder He took her to the picture show, To let the other fellers know. But most of all, to remind her, She was always his. Sidewinder She dared to say his love was strange, He promised then, he soon would change. His loving words he used to bind her, He stayed the same, Sidewinder She waited for the chance to run. She traveled through the desert sun. Left his poison far behind her. He tracked her down. Sidewinder Slithered up with his tongue, a kiss, And then the slap, she would never miss. She had meant to hide where he would not find her. Her last mistake. Sidewinder |
