A Good Laugh During Troubled Times

Modeling good behavior during bad times - a poem.

Showcasing a contrite and lively sense of humor
During the darkest of moments
Is the absolute epitomy
Of human courage and self-esteem;
It is a bonding with others that communicates
Strong, willful intentions,
Yet the most blessed attributes
That any one individual can truly display.

It may also seem like the saddest of ironies:
Something which is not funny at all
Must be laughed at and shared
With the inherent kindness and decency of others.
But it is a question of OUR humanity and construct,
Not THEIRS, and it develops
A tolerance and openness
For all of those treasured,
Yet questionable blessings and tidings
That we continue to enjoy
In our time-honored, daily lives.
