Verse about a new and unexpected friendship |
Snowy Days and Good Friends Once upon a winter cheery, snow fell briskly, tumbling down. The Mississippi hugged the land like icy bands around our town, Bundled in soft home-made afghans, rocking in my mother's old chair, safe in the Father's outstretched hands, always steady and always there. I thought of days and memories when I was lonely, soul-scarred ever. I barely heard Jesus' deep voice saying, 'I will leave you never,' Sent from His wise and loving heart, You touched me slowly and surely. Like gentle rain, soothing and true. My soul opened, cleansed so purely. Now we share stories with soft smiles, and my tears dry on aging skin. You console me; you comfort me from your large store of love within. Suddenly then, not so alone as though you were right next to me. Sadness lifted as I watched The sun rise and peep in on me. I rose to meet the sweet new day. I looked forward; can you see? Such small, powerful words --'my friend.' Do you know what you mean to me? 28 lines |
