A short poem that was part of a Scholastic Silver key winning collection |
| A sweet sound an innocent giggle you're my king and I'm your Queen. Dressed in crazy clothes, hiding among the pots, climbing in with the pans the world is our castle and together we will grow. We will grow up together. Towering over me you teased as was expected. Then soon you dated her and my first kiss wasted on someone else lips. We had to soon forgotten and to soon we gave up without a thought together we grew. Together we grew apart. I left without Goodbye. I swore I'd make my dreams real. I fell in love and you watched you watched as I waked away holding someone else hand. You ran after and found me later crushed and left behind it's part of growing up you said and together we would grow. We will grow old together. Years later here I am, you kept your promise and I know you never left but somehow I feel cold. Cold when I laugh on the porch swing. Cold when my spread fingers never touch yours. Pepper grey wisps was all you had When you said together we grew. We grew old together but remained young forever. |
