The Beautiful Blue-Green Orb

Life warms the planet - but the majority agrees, reduce our carbon footprint - a poem.

With its tranquil sunsets, brightly-lit cities,
And lopping waves along hot sandy beaches,
The densely populated earth
Hosts an infinite array of sumptuous
And delicate sights and sounds.

This epic euphony and gala grandeur
Can be found nowhere else
In our distantly known and
Yet to be travelled universe. 

But as the earth’s politicians and environmentalists
Continue to seek limits on humanity’s encroachment
On sensitive environs,
And view global warming
As the most disastrous fate
Facing future generations down the road…

…The majority has agreed that reducing
Our carbon footprint shall be a worthwhile improvement
For this already-devastated planet,
Where cataclysmic weather contortions
Continue to make the world prone to catastrophe 
On a tragically reoccurring basis.
