A chaperone's lament |
| I used to dance the jitterbug, I could really cut a rug, At every party in town, Until osteoarthritis took me down. Now I sit out every dance, Watch the young folks shimmy and prance, I play the perfect chaperone, Wishing I had stayed at home. At home I could watch stars dancing, See my favorite couple romancing, Famous judges to win their votes, And a place in entertainment's footnotes. |
