Esprit Redux ?

Reincarnation or what?

Reoccurring dream -
an illegal entry; continues to reveal
a scene of memories
I never had.

Invasion of privacy, shadows felt;
silent witness to my case.
No pension for forgiveness
nor wanton waste.

Were you in my dreams,
or was I in yours?
Did I live before in mortal’s role
or was it in spirit--searching for a soul?

Is the soul my own--forgotten prisoner forlorn;
trapped in portal of time and space?
No agenda there for the taking;
a virtual heist in the making. 

Is it me or is it you,
was past life the hidden clue?
Have I arisen and am I through,
or could I have been renewed? 
     
Did I dream another man’s dream
or was it a déjà vu?
Do I know what you already knew,
or did I walk in another’s shoes?

Could I have lived before
and those dreams are not my own--
Or have I lived in proxy
and my futile seeds been sown?

I think I can now believe
into where I’ve always been...
regardless of where
you plan for me to go.

But, I can’t help but see,
without a past I might not be;
part of, another one's future--
that's not related to me.
