One Last Time

Delay tactics at their finest... BEDTIME!

I crawled in bed
And quickly said,
"One last time?"



Mom just smiled,
"Alright, my child,
One last time."



She read my book
Without a look,
One last time.



She tucked me in tight,
And turned off the light,
"One last time?"



She rolled her eyes,
"Let me advise,
One last time."



I crept out of bed
Not a sleepy head
One last time.



I strolled down the hall
And found my old ball
I gave it a kick
But, boy she was quick.
"One... Last... Time!"



I ran back to bed
And covered my head
She tucked me in tight,
And turned off the light.
I peeked out and said
With nothing to dread.
"Mom, I love you."
One last time.
