The Velvet Venusians

Is it time to retire?

Dressed in a Venus gray velvet body suits,
we step onto the stage.

We listen,
we watch
as our adoring fans
shout
in their made-up Venusian slang-language
"Velvet Venusians!"
"Velvet Venusians!"
"Velvet Venusians!"
and then begin removing
various pieces of clothing.

I sigh,
I glance to my right
and then to my left;
I can tell by looking at
Vel and Vet
that they are as tired as I am.

In case
you haven't already guessed,
I'm Venus
the leader of this aging
legendary
(at least in the minds of our groupies)
multi-platinum record downloading
band of iconic interplanetary stars.

I think
it's time we had ourselves cloned,
so that we can secretly retire
(without losing any of our
obscene and excessive wealth)
to one of the outer colonies.
