Fried Cormorant

meet Chronicle's dragons

Chronicle's twin manticore dragons
Nimbus and Gallant
had just completed a few laps,
racing around the quincunx,
and popping off mini fireballs
at the pixies who'd made sport
of throwing acorns at them --
when the dragons found their favorite corner
of Lost Lake
to settle down for a soak --
interrupting them, Zirak the polyglot owl dropped in
with a request from the wizard --
a big gulp of double-breasted cormorants
landed here at Lost Lake
and went right to fishing,
if Nimbus and Gallant would be so kind
and run them out of here, please,
before those daffy birds empty the lake --
the dragons pulled themselves up out of the water
snorted a few smoke rings at each other
and took off
a few fried feathers later
the cormorants were heading for a cooler climate
