While I was sleeping

An adult poem inspired by the children's prayer "Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep"

Tonight as I lay sleeping
My soul the Lord was keeping
Unknown battles ‘round me fought
Satan wanted my life caught

God sent Angels to fight hard
To protect and stand at guard
Demons tried their best to win
although Jesus cleansed my sin

So in anger Satan left
I then woke up so refreshed
God had kept me safe again
All the battles He will win
