A poem looking back on Easter holidays past; how times can change..... |
| No Easter Bunny I offer up a story Of Easter mornings past A picture shining brightly Through the looking glass Children painting Easter eggs In rainbow colours bright Transforming them to princesses Or chicks and lambs so white Of lazy days on beaches Or in gardens warm and sunny Sumptuous picnics by the river Even though there was no money Those drunken days with friends On Easter Sunday sessions Brought love and games and laughter And long lasting impressions But no Easter bunny Is going to come this year He’ll bring no chocolate eggs Nor spread his springtime cheer The happy times die fast With dear ones missed so sadly As memories fade away And this fresh start ends badly. The blue spring skies are gone Disappeared with the past As I watch stories playing out Through my glazed looking glass. 28 lines |
