Hope and Decisions

Heroes come in different forms, like folks in an office, or you and me. A prose poem.

Humanity’s great heroes, or the brave souls
In those thrilling action movies,
Inspire faith, confidence, and hope
That the most satisfying outcomes can be reached.

With their ironclad wills, superior toughness,
And unique training regimens,
These real or fictitious saviors can supply
The immense courage and drive to overcome huge obstacles,
While emerging unscathed with an engaging flair
And the most sheepish, elegant and selfless demeanor.

But in the everyday life of an average citizen,
Hope can come from a much different source:
One might take the blame for any abnormal behavior
Or failure to follow procedures at work
And be offered a chance to engage in corrective actions, 
Thereby mitigating the risks associated
With these serious or potentially harmful acts. 

Management must teach attention to detail,
Safety principles, and adherence to rules,
And each individual must apply sound judgment and reasoning
To the best of their abilities, at all times,
For an organization or group to meet its goals
And function properly.
