Two Days in the Wrong Direction

Originally done as a collage.

I was found two days in the wrong direction,

taught to be afraid of liberty.

Here it is so different.

As soon as I was old enough, I was sent

to school,

hawk-like men teaching me to speak,

“Give Us Money or We’ll Die.”

Now I am as free as he who tied my hands-

I can say in full voice,

“I had to be far, far, far away.

But here, now, I can speak out”
