A Spenserian sonnet on social isolation |
| What has arisen that keeps me at bay To let the words rise from out of my mind, With a fear to face in the light of day, Through glass coated lies and echoes that blind? My love of the dark is hiding behind A lighted hallway that leads through the crowd, And if my voyage does leave me confined I’ll float off the earth and enter a cloud. With rose haired maiden to call out aloud, So my name might ring in caves down below, I rise to the heights that breakthrough the shroud With knowledge of love to keep me in tow. So here I lay, so heavy in the sky With no means to live, but none more to die. |
