The Deepest Sleep

Once more I face this night
And with a somber heart I close my eyes
I take a breath and plunge beneath
To carry them above the deep

A heavy heart will weigh me down
But lost beneath I shall not drown
For in water’s beds I can not sleep
I must carry them above the deep

Yet I lay upon the water’s bed
My heart too heavy to flee the dead
As I try to swim above the deep
My heart again tries to speak

It asks me why I fight this night
It says to me to close my eyes
To sleep once more and rest my head
Upon the deep of the water’s bed
