| Anxiety overcomes me, ignoring my plea Fear runs through these veins, settling as quiet as can be The pain refuses to leave, latching its tiny hands on my life Surging the pain through my body, more painful than the knife Thrilling shrieks are heard, all throughout the room This lonely child of mine, still not leaving the womb Encouragement after encouragement Compliment after compliment Screams after screams Until this child of mine responds to my dreams Tiredness overcomes me, lacing me with sleep Pulling my eyelids further, drifting to the deep This child of mine cries loudly, a deafening noise at first But the motherhood that surrounds me, wishes to quench this child’s thirst This child of mine becomes weaker, nestling in my arms Clearly proven not a speaker, one of this child’s charms This child of mine gets gentle, going quiet in my hold Each move I make now parental, what a story to be told This child of mine… |
