A special poem about a dream meant to change my world and wash away my fears. |
She Walks Like Rain By Keaton Foster Up and down the street, Part of a vivid dream Turned abundantly real, Imagination mired in truth, She seems impossible at times, Intended in every scope and detail. She walks like rain, I know her every game. Each move she makes, Each heart she breaks, Is part of our Newly defined fate. She and I Have both made mistakes, Both suffered At the hands of others. But unlike me, She is no longer weak. She is a thousand storms Turning in the sea, A million lightning strikes Shattering the sky, Every crack of thunder Forced into the soul of a being Who has endured all she can take. Above the sky and below the sea, She is determined To make them pay. Revenge is a two-way street, And she will turn it Into a torrential stream. She walks like rain, Washing away the hopes Of those who stole hers, Leaving them naked and accused, Battered and bruised, Dismantling all fear In the process. Any place she goes, Any person she knows, Is easily washed away, Cleansed from the world— An impossible stain Forever removed. Only when all she has known Is gone, washed to another place, Erased from what it means To be a human being, Weak creatures of sickening need, Will she be free To do as she and I dream. She is my creation, A displaced reality Of what could be. If I had the courage to be like her, I would not have needed To create her and all she means. She walks like rain, Making everything clean, Washing away pain, Displacing shame, Creating a new world In which she and I Can dare to be One and the same… She Walks Like Rain (2011) By Keaton Foster |
