A free verse poem |
| Fire frogs hop through the forest tonight, igniting the tops of dying trees with their hot breath. Smoke, like a thick charcoal fog, rises into the sunset transforming the firmament into scarlet coals. Fear changes foe into friend, enemy into ally, as old feuds are forgotten in the panic of survival. Once free of the conflagration, the survivors return to their old habits, place feet and miles between predator and prey. Line count:19 |
