~By the Sea~

Captured by the chaotic confusion
Consumed by the energy of the sea
Content to remain oblivious
As the tide rises around my feet

The roar of the ocean is deafening
As these tears begin to fall
Immersed in the tidal wave of emotion
Arms spread; releasing it all

Every disappointment
Every hurtful word I believed
Every bruise that marred my skin
Cleansed by the salty mist of the sea

Forced to face the unbending truth
Realizing how much I have given away
My soul may be battered and bruised
Yet I know it’s worth every effort to save

As I stand on the brink of destruction
The tide miraculously begins to recede
Taking with it the burdens of my past
Restoring my faith; as well as my dreams.
