I stole someone’s laughter
I kidnapped a smile
I captured someone’s embrace
I have walked many miles
On a mission; I briskly walk
Sorry my dears; I have no time to talk
My basket isn’t full;
I have much work to do;
This is very important; I will see it through
You see there are so many who are misunderstood
I am a determined woman
I am a modern day Robin Hood
It isn’t your coin in which I seek
It is in your heart; it beckons me
Calling out; allowing me in
I take one or two smiles
Then I pass them on to a friend
Some are alone; some live in despair
There are some who believe that no one cares
I give all that I have captured, kidnapped and stole
A laugh or a smile; these are what soothes a battered soul
So if I come a knockin
Please don’t turn me away
You never know when you might need
