A short poem about ageing |
| The lioness within Sleeps more as I age Too tired for claws Too busy for rage Heady emotions Heightened by youth Quietened with tears And length of the tooth When once I would dance Where others don't tread My anger is softened With thoughts in my head When at times I lament The dimples and droops I try to remember The emotions of youth The injustice and rage At things I would change The fury and heartbreak Of love's silly game Each wrinkle I have Is a badge to be worn An honour I hold complete without scorn Each day I am here A blessing to begin It's life I survive and love is the win |
