What's That Behind Me?

I was startled to find the creature lurking behind me was...

What's that behind me,
Lurking in the dark?
Should I be scared?
Nah, I think I heard it bark...

But, then again...
I don't own a dog.
So, still the question remained:
What is hiding in the fog?!

I ran and ran,
Screaming hard and loud.
This was not a moment,
That I admired the clouds.

For, as I was running,
The rain started to pour!
''Somebody! Help me!
Please open up your door!''

I was beginning to get lost,
With the monster still behind.
Terrified completely,
I thought I was losing my mind!

''No point in running...''
So I turned around.
I kept my feet steady;
Glued to the ground.

The ending, though scary,
Was funnier than most.
I turned and was facing,
Someone who wasn't a ghost!

''Why did you go that way?
Base is over there!''
My brother, playing tag,
Was not what I expected;
I expected a bear!!
