Our Roll Means Nothing to Us

Constantly sharing our gifts and being selfless –
The sheer folly and madness of avoiding
This saintly teaching will get us nowhere,
Both now and in the future. 

The roll we’re on means 
We’re not on any roll,
Because the forecast calls for shyness,
Inhibitions, and further, deeper analysis.

Just surviving another day
Of pride and bitterness
Is all we can hope to accomplish
In this humbling and unsettling life
We must now try to live! 

For what we give is always going to be
More than what we get out of life –
The talent to extract selfish and sole rewards
From our abilities without giving
To the community as a whole
Is sheer fantasy.

We must engage in honest, selfless giving
And personally-driven sacrifice
To achieve the grandeur and historic significance
Of a distinguished and peaceful life,
Filled with love, hope, and cherished blessings
From our fellow human beings.
