When fans cast their eyes on the sport’s elite players,
Their vision and temperament become skewed –
The excitement and intense exhilaration
Of competition sweep fans off their feet,
Fully aware that these high-priced
And exceptionally talented stars
Are capable of some amazing and incredible feats.
But under the scrutiny and watchful eye of the public,
These legends and soon-to-be icons
Can become bashed or ridiculed
For their lack of good judgment and superior performance,
Which can be deemed so vital and necessary
To good, daily, honest living…
 
Professional athletes must work hard
And be accountable,
Not just to teammates and fans,
But to the constant need to develop and improve;
The sacrifices they make now, and the energy they put forth later,
Should drive their teammates
And the entire organization to new heights,
Winning championships and spreading hope and cheer
To communities all over the world…
